From Robertson, follow the sign to McGregor to cross the Breede River. Then, head south towards the Riviersonderend mountains, and half way up the Road to Nowhere, is McGregor village.
McGregor is the perfect weekend destination - roughly a 2-hour drive from Cape Town International Airport.
Enjoy wonderful wine, fabulous food, wonderful walks as well as unmissable people and places.
McGregor has some of South Africa’s best preserved Victorian architecture,.
Destination McGregor offers a range of accommodation, including self-catering options in cottages that are original “rietdak” (reed roofed) cottages to newer, but traditionally built adobe and/or brick houses. There is something to suit virtually every taste and pocket, whether you are looking for luxury, bed and breakfast, self-catering or accommodation only, - in the village, on farms or in the remote mountain areas.
It's a popular misconception that McGregor is a sleepy little village. First impressions are very deceiving: one often hears visitors asking locals how they keep themselves occupied, only to be surprised by how much goes on.
Similarly, new residents can be heard lamenting that their social calendars have never been so busy!
